I’ve been open on my pages. So open. I hope it’s helpful and I hope it reaches people.
Between what I’ve learned and what I experienced I know that there is a medical gaslighting issue. And we need to be confident enough to know to fight for our own health. I’ve experienced this for myself and for my family in the last 8 mos.
Today I had a lot of time in the car by myself so I enjoyed one of my very favorite podcasts: You are Not Broken with Dr Kelly Casperson. And I somehow managed to hit the three of her 350+ podcasts that were JUST what I needed to hear. I’m including the links to the podcast and to the YouTube version. I find I pay attention better when I see the interaction between host and guest.
Hearing the history of how women have been treated FOREVER in a medical setting…is disappointing. Did you know there was no requirement to include women in medical research until the 1990s? Spoiler: Women are not just smaller men.
Hearing different women’s stories is almost validating. Maybe that’s why I am so open with my journey. You are not alone. You are not broken. And there ARE options…even in this crazy medical climate. This is the story of how one of the online providers got its start…less than 5 years ago…and how it has helped soooo many women who are struggling to find providers who listen.
And then there is the thyroid. I think I’ve known for a long time that my thyroid could be better. What I didn’t know was how niche thyroid care is. It’s another of the hormones that doesn’t get fully taught. It is so nuanced and detailed. I really feel this was a key piece to my journey. There is more than just me in my family on a thyroid journey. This guest is not my provider…but she explains a lot of the thyroid info.
I hope this inspires you to start your own health journey. Everyone has their own for sure, but if I can help you on yours, I’d be glad to!
Thanks for joining me on my journey!!
